Dr Rives said the students and faculty exchange programme between the UHS and University of Texas would result in a cultural and social interchange between the USA and Pakistan. 'We are becoming one world and need to understand each other system. I came here as an insider, not outsider, to talk candidly with you and understand your problems and difficulties. We will be more than willing to help you" he added.
He highly applauded achievements made by the UHS in a short span of just two years. He said the greatest service UHS could render, was to provide healthcare services to all the people of Pakistan, irrespective of their social status.
The UHS Board of Governor's chairman Professor Mahmood Ahmad said the student and faculty exchange programme would benefit enormously both the universities. American students and teachers could benefit from enormous clinical material, UHS had possessed.
He asked Dr Rives to meet the heads and faculty members of individual departments of the UHS and advise them on different matters.
